Akhmad Kadyrov: Executives must be more efficient in pursuing the president's policy in Chechnya

Akhmad Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen administration, thinks executives must be more efficient in pursuing the Russian president's policy in respect of Chechnya.

"If Vladimir Putin's policy were properly implemented, we would have peace," Kadyrov told journalists, commenting on the president's annual state-of-the-nation address.

He noted that Putin had "paid a great deal of attention to the situation in Chechnya" in his address. According to his words, the president has always been saying, and just confirmed it once again today, that the people of Chechnya are not to blame for what happened in the republic. "The people of Chechnya have already made their choice by voting for the Constitution," said Kadyrov.

"All responsibility for the republic's unstable situation lies solely with the terrorists," he stressed.

At the same time, he said the situation in the republic was "controllable." Touching on the republic's future after the referendum, Kadyrov declared: "If the Centre trusts the republic and its people, it has to invest it with more authority." In his annual state-of-the-nation address delivered to the Federal Assembly, the Russian president promised to carry through the political settlement process in Chechnya and stressed the importance of signing an agreement on division of powers between the republic and the Federal Centre.
