Russian oil and gas producer posts higher results

The Russian oil and gas company Surgutneftegas's oil production totaled nearly 17.217m tons in January to April 2003, gaining 10.7 percent against the same period of 2002. The company's gas production for the same period of 2003 amounted to some 4.678bn cubic meters with an 8 percent gain against the same period of 2002.

Volumes of drilling came to 980,600 meters including 82,900 meters of exploratory drilling in the reported period. Since the beginning of the year, 293 new wells have been put into operation.
