No danger of terrorist acts in St Petersburg: city Vice-Governor says

All precautions have been taken in St Petersburg to provide security of the city's residents and guests, Vice-Governor Anna Markova believes. She told journalists about this Tuesday, while reviewing the results of session of the City Commission for Emergencies.

Security of the city's residents and guests during the celebrations was discussed at the conference.

According to Markova, currently there is no threat of terrorist acts in St Petersburg thanks to co-ordinated actions of special services and law-enforcers. Markova explains it by high awareness of the law-enforcing agencies.

The issues of sanitary-epidemic situation were also discussed at the meeting, especially those related to the SARS danger. Markova said the necessary preventive measures would be taken in the potentially SARS-dangerous locations: airports, railway/bus stations, and highways.

Special premises have been prepared to check and aid those with suspected SARS.
