RTS Exchange Reports Upsurge in Volume of Trade

The volume of trade in the so-called classical stock section on the RTS exchange increased 108.7 percent in April 2003 and amounted to $722m, the RTS press service reported. The number of deals concluded on the RTS exchange went up 41 percent and reached 6,174 last month.

Leaders of sales on the RTS were common shares of Surgutneftegas, RAO UES of Russia, LUKoil, YUKOS, Sibneft and Mosenergo as well as preferred shares of Surgutneftegas and common shares of Sberbank. The most significant rise in prices was registered in common shares of Mosenergo, Surgutneftegas, LUKoil, YUKOS and some other securities.
