Vyborgsky Shipbuilding Factory to Build Norwegian Super Trawler

The foundation for a new hull for a super trawler at the Vyborgsky shipbuilding factory in Leningrad region will be laid on April 29. The super trawler was ordered by a Norwegian company Bergen Yards. Factory General Director Sergey Zavyalov told Rosbalt that the contract was worth approximately USD 5 million.

The ship hull will be built under the supervision of the classification society DNV and presented to the customer in Fall 2003. The ship will be 94 meters long, the length on the bend will be 17.6 meters and the height of the board to the main deck will measure 9.8 meters. At the present time, the factory is conducting negotiations for signing a contract for building a series of ships of this class.

Moreover, on April 29 the Vyborgsky shipbuilding factory will give the Norwegian company DOF Industri a.s. its next - and eighth by count - trawler-seiner hull according to the project of the construction bureau Vik-Sandvik. The open joint stock company St. Petersburg Bank with the cooperation of the Norwegian Warf Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted a.s. is providing financial support for the building of the series of trawlers.
