Putin to Attend Summit of Collective Security Treaty Organisation

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation to be held in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan. The Organisation comprises Russia, Tajikistan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kirghizia.

Deputy chief of the Kremlin administration Sergei Prikhodko told RIA Novosti that the six heads of state would discuss the international situation, the Organisation's performance and its budget.

A high-ranking source in the Kremlin told RIA Novosti that a package of 15 agreements had been prepared for the summit. In particular, they concern the setting up of a united military headquarters with a common command centre. According to the source, decisions to be taken at the summit will allow the Organisation which was established last May to "launch large-scale activity" in the near future.

In addition, a new Secretary General of the Organisation will be appointed at the summit. Russia has nominated its former ambassador to Denmark Nikolai Bordyuzha for the post.
