90% of Russian Exports to Finland Are Raw Materials

Raw materials make up approximately 90% of Russian exports to Finland, according to a statement Vice President of the Trade and Industry Chamber Georgy Petrov made to journalists on Friday. He also said that the overwhelming part of Russian exports to Finland was made up of energy resources and timber.

At the same time, Petrov said that there was a positive dynamic in the development of trade interdependence between Russia and Finland. He said that in 2002 the total volume of trade between the two countries was EUR 6.7 billion (in 2001 it was EUR 6.2 billion). The positive trade balance of Russian exports was EUR 470 million. Russia is Finland's third ranking trading partner. Finland is Russia's ninth ranking trading partner in terms of trade volume.
