Deputy Prime Minister Suggests Inviting Commercial Companies to Join in Grain Export to Egypt

Alexei Gordeyev, Russia's Agriculture Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, suggests inviting commercial companies to join in Russian grain deliveries to Egypt.

At present, Egypt buys from Russia 6 to 7 tonnes of grain annually, Gordeyev told reporters on Tuesday. "We would like to place these export deliveries on a permanent basis," he said, and intensive talks on the issue are underway between the two countries.

"We would like that commercial companies would mainly work for such export," Gordeyev said. In his view, "inter-state deliveries are not very stable and effective in matters of mutual settlements and prices.
