Foreign Minister of Algeria to Discuss in Moscow the Situation in the Middle East

Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria Abdelaziz Belkhadem is arriving in Moscow on a return working visit on Tuesday. As the Embassy of Algeria in Moscow said in this connection, the planned talks of Abdelaziz Belkhadem with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Ivanov "will be held in the context of development of bilateral relations and a political dialogue".

As Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Alexander Yakovenko, told RIA Novosti, the forthcoming Russian-Algerian talks "will make it possible to concretely discuss the state and the prospects of improvement of the whole complex of mutually advantageous bilateral relations". It is planned to hold at the talks " a profound exchange of views on the situation shaping up in Iraq and around it".

According to Yakovenko, there is a "good basis" for this in the two countries' relations, which rests on the community of the approaches to "non-alternative return of the Iraq settlement into a political-legal channel in strict accordance with the existing resolutions of the UN Security Council and in the context of the central role of the UN in this process".

Great attention will be also paid to the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, in deciding of which both sides are coming out, on the whole, from proximate positions. The dialogue on Western Sahara, which has become traditional, will be continued in the course of the visit.
