Finance Ministry suggests cuts in state support to mass media

The Russian Finance Ministry has suggested cutting state support to mass media sources, says the ministry's document drawn up after a meeting of the government's commission headed by Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin. The Cabinet will consider the results of this meeting tomorrow. According to estimates of the ministry's experts, up to 1.1bn rubles (about $35m) could be saved on allocations for the mass media in 2004.
