Russian banks' investments in shares retreat

Russian banks decreased their investments in shares by 1.3 percent to 50.657bn rubles ($1.61) in January 2003, the Central Bank reported. Investments in shares of domestic credit organizations were 910m rubles ($29m) as of February 1, 2003, which was a 3.8 percent advance compared to January 1, 2003. Investments in shares of non-residents dropped by 1m rubles (about $31,900) to 103m rubles ($3.29m) as of February 1, 2003.
