Bee Line expects to attract 200,000 subscribers in St. Petersburg in 2003

VimpelCom will put into commercial operation its Bee Line mobile network in St. Petersburg on April 16, 2003, the press service of the company reported. At present, the Bee Line network covers the major part of the city and a number of suburbs. At the next stage the company is planning to cover highways and railroads from Moscow to St. Petersburg and from St. Petersburg to the Finnish border. At the beginning some 100 base stations will function and by the end of the year their number is to increase by more than two times. The amount of investments at the first stage of this project is about $50m. The equipment supplier is Ericsson. It is planned that the number of Bee Line subscribers in St. Petersburg will amount to about 200,000. At present the total number of Bee Line subscribers in Russia is 6.1m.
