Almost half of Belarusian companies are lossmaking

The number of lossmaking companies amounted to 5,635 by the beginning of February 2003 in Belarus, which accounted for 48.6 percent of the overall number of companies in Belarus. The number of lossmaking companies was 45.9 percent as of February 1, 2002 and 34.9 percent by the end of 2002, according to information from the Belarusian Ministry of Statistics and Analysis.
