Water still threatens to break through dams on Kuban river

Water is still threatening to break through dams in the low stream of the Kuban river because the Krasnodar water reserve discharges much water. This information was disclosed on Saturday by the Russian Defence Ministry's press service.

According to it, precipitation and melting ice in mountainous regions of Kabardino-Balkaria /a North Caucasian republic/ increases the danger of new mudflows. Several villages in the bordering republic of Adygeya are still flooded.

At the same time, the press service added that the situation on rivers in the Southern Federal district was stabilising. Over the passed 24 hours, the Defence Ministry has assigned 291 men, 50 vehicles and 2 helicopters to fight the flood aftermath.

As a result of special operations, 70 people have been evacuated, those in need received 35 tons of various cargo, 5 tons of potable water, 393 people received bread and warm nutrition.
