Rosneft posts investment figures

The total volume of investments of Rosneft exceeded 8bn rubles ($254m) in the first half of 2002, which was 13 percent more than in the corresponding period last year, the press service of the company reported. Some 4bn rubles ($127m) out of this sum were invested in oil production, more than 760m rubles ($24.1m) in oil refining. The holding's share in the total volume of investments in oil production was 65 percent and about 80 percent in oil refining. Investments in strategic projects of Rosneft amounted to 2.5bn rubles ($79.37m), which was twice as much as in the first six months of 2001. About one third of these investments were the company's funds directed to the exploration of fields in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. Among other strategic projects are exploration of fields in Sakhalin, on the shelf of the Barents Sea, Kazakhstan, North Africa and South America.
