Vladimir Putin considers CIS a key issue of Russian diplomacy

President Vladimir Putin considers the work within the CIS one of the core issues of the Russian diplomacy. The Commonwealth of Independent States, as an international organisation, can assume responsibility for the solution of security problems and economic and humanitarian cooperation in Eurasia, Vladimir Putin said at a meeting between Russian Ambassadors in the Foreign Ministry on Friday.

"Pragmatism and business interests both of the countries and business communities are beginning to prevail" in the processes of integration within the CIS, Putin noted. He asked the ambassadors to take all efforts for successful cooperation within the Commonwealth. "This is our common advantage as part of the global economic competition and a guarantee of our common successes both in international-political and strategic spheres," the President said.
