Trade turnover between Russian and Bavaria was DM9.1bn in 2001

The product turnover between Russia and Bavaria (Germany) was DM9.1 billion in 2001, an increase of $2.1 billion as compared to the figures reported in 2000, Otto Wiesheu, Minister of Economy, Transport and Technologies of the land of Bavaria reported today at a meeting with President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yevgeny Primakov. The Bavarian Minister was quoted as saying that over the past three years the number of Bavarian companies cooperating with Russia had been growing, and there are 650-700 such companies today. Such concerns as BMW and Siemens are ready to substantially boost their investments in Russia. The President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was quoted as saying that Russia's exports to Bavaria are rather extensive and largely consist of raw materials and semi-finished products. Primakov pointed out that Russia should have increased the share of ready products in its overall exports to Bavaria.
