GAZ Presents Military Technology at Expo Arms - 2002

Russian gas company GAZ is taking part in an international exhibition of military equipment entitled Russian Expo Arms-2002, which began yesterday and is to continue until June 13 in Nizhny Tagil. As a Rosbalt correspondent was told by the press-service of the Gorky car factory, GAZ will be demonstrating military technology produced at the Arzamassky Machine Construction Factory.

A major item of the GAZ exhibition is the multi-functional, highly mobile army vehicle GAZ-39371 Vodnik. Vehicles of the Vodnik family are capable of travelling over rough territory, crossing water, carrying arms, and transporting up to ten people. Vodnik vehicles are currently under military trials in the North Caucuses military area.

Armoured troop carriers BTR-80A and BTR-70M will also be presented in the exhibition, as well as armoured patrol vehicle BRDM-2M, GAZ-39371 Vodnik, and arms transporting vehicle BTR-80A, based on the BTR-80, which is used for on-land military action and shooting air targets.
