Incident at Rassian Expo Arms-2002 does not affect assessment of MLRS "Smerch"

The incident during demonstrative firing at the Russian Expo Arms-2002 did not affect the assessment the foreign guests gave to the multiple launching rocket system "Smerch".

Experts note that despite the incident that wounded Nizhny Tagil's 48-year-old citizen Yevgeny Boyarsky, foreign participants in the exhibition gave a high assessment of the Smerch technical characteristics.

They express their willingness to purchase the rocket system and to cooperate with Russian defense plants, the experts stress.

Meanwhile, foreign specialists say they were not officially briefed about the incident during demonstrative firing.

Yevgeny Boyarsky, a driver of the state unitary enterprise "Uralvagonzavod", wounded with a shell's fragments, is now at the 1st city clinical hospital in Nizhny Tagil.

The man got a shrapnel wound in the stomach and an open fracture, his condition is considered "grave", as RIA Novosti learned at the hospital's traumatology department.
