Seats of Taiga fires spread over Far East

Seats of taiga fires are spreading over the Far East. According to the Far-Eastern Natural Resources Department of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, 19 new fire seats were registered in the region over the last 24 hours. All in all, there are 101 fires in the region. Most fires are raging in Yakutia (58).

The situation in the Magadan region is aggravating - 2 of 20 fires are raging in the State nature preserve.

According to the data of the regional department, the fire situation has relatively stabilised in the Khabarovsk territory, the Amur region and the Jewish autonomous region, where all fire seats were localised.

Since the beginning of the fire-risk season (April) 2,216 fires have raged in the Far East, the department said. Fires have spread over the area of 313,282 hectares.

All in all, 1,332 experts, 23 planes and helicopters and 107 units of heavy-duty equipment are involved in the extinguishing of taiga fires.
