Flood in Southern Russia: death toll reaches 91

As of Monday 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, the flood in Southern Russia claimed the lives of 91 people, reported the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Of this amount, 47 people were killed on the Stavropol territory, 31 on the Krasnodar territory, 6 in Karachayevo-Cherkessia, 6 in North Ossetia, and 1 in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Almost 102,000 people were evacuated from flooded towns and villages. By now, about 39,000 have returned to their homes. According to specified estimates, more than 329,000 people suffered property damages during the flood. All in all, flood damages amount to 13.6 billion rubles, or 430 million dollars.

Water flooded a total of 343 towns and villages, ruining 519 dwelling-houses and damaging 45,733. The flood destroyed 350.7 kilometers of gas pipelines, 409 bridges, 1,717 kilometers of highways, 5.9 kilometers of railway bed, 1,189.4 kilometers of power lines, 520 kilometers of the water supply system, and 154 water intakes. It also cut off electricity in 154 villages.

As of Monday morning, emergency teams fixed 358.8 kilometers of power lines and restored 846.6 kilometers of highways, 230.75 kilometers of the water supply system, 62.5 kilometers of gas pipelines, 4.3 kilometers of the railroad, 203 bridges, and 70 water intakes.
