Baltika Brewery Acknowledged as Best Russian Exporter in 2001

In the nomination 'Food and Processing Industries', St. Petersburg's Baltika brewing company has been named Russia's best exporter for the year 2001. According to the press service of The Union of Russia's Brewers, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has been holding the competition for the title of 'Russia's Best Exporter' since 1998. This year, over 130 Russia's companies competed for the title for the previous year. After final selection, 71 companies were nominated. Baltika undoubtedly is the export champion among Russia's breweries. In 2001, the company exported a total of 410,200 hectolitres of beer, which was a 285% increase on the year. At this time, the company's exports come to just 3% of its total sales.

Baltika exports its output to practically all CIS states and also to Germany, Israel, the US, Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Greece, and Mongolia. Every single product the company outputs is on its exports' list. Baltika accounts for 60% of all beer exported from Russia and for over 50% of imported beers sold in the CIS states. In 2001, Baltika's net profit from exports amounted to USD 17 million, which is 500% increase on the year. In 2002, the company intends to increase exports by 7% on the year to a total of 850,000 hectolitres.
