Apache Completes Tut 51 Well At Khalda Concession

Apache Corporation announced the successful completion of its Tut 51 well, which tested at a daily rate of 3,200 barrels of oil and 7.7 million cubic feet of gas. Located on Apache's 2.3-million acre Khalda Concession in Egypt's Western Desert, the well tested 54 of 162 total feet of Khatatba pay. The Khatatba interval also includes 102 feet in the 2B sands, the thickest interval in that section yet encountered on the concession. Apache operates Khalda with a 100 percent contractor interest.

The Tut was tested on a 5/8-inch choke with 1,870 pounds per square inch of flowing wellhead pressure. It is producing from three intervals between 11,480 feet and 11,993 feet. Approximately 108 feet of Khatatba pay remain behind pipe, as well as 36 feet of Bahariya pay at approximately 6,100 feet. Since becoming operator of the Khalda Concession early last year, Apache has increased oil production 29 percent to 55,000 barrels per day.
