On Tuesday Russian president Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov. They discussed the present economic situation, work on the governmental programme of action towards modernisation of the economy and development of the social sphere in 2002 through 2004, the RIA Novosti quotes the Kremlin press secretary Alexei Gromov as saying.
Kasyanov reported to the head of state preliminary results of consideration by the State Duma (the lower chamber of Russian parliament) of the priority cabinet bills.
Also in discussion were certain aspects of the upcoming G8 summit meeting in Kananaskis in Canada.
