Brazil: Criminals with missiles

Plans to obtain military missiles have been discovered in a cell at Bangu 1 maximum security jail in Rio de Janeiro, after a mass break-out on Wednesday.

15 prisoners broke out of the prison at dawn, leaving behind their equipment and documentation. In one cell. There was a PBX telephone exchange and one prisoner, the infamous drugs trafficker Fernandinho Beira-Mar, was discovered to have plans to purchase military missiles, in his cell.

Two of the escapees were shot dead and another two were recaptured after having been injured.
