Head Public Prosecutor Explains Crime Situation in Russia to Foreign Diplomats

Head Public Prosecutor of Russia Vladimir Ustinov has managed to convince the leaders of the diplomatic mission of foreign states that incidents with foreigners are not directed against states. Ustinov presented crime statistics to the diplomats, committed in Russia last year. A total of 3 million law infringements were registered, of which 1,500 were directed against foreigners.

Ustinov also said that the leaders of the diplomatic mission raised the issue of members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who fail to register crimes committed against foreign citizens.

From now on, said the public prosecutor, all such situations will be under the control of the international subdivision of the Office of Public Prosecution of the Russian Federation. 'I think that this question will be resolved. We have decided to put an end to falsification of information on criminals and refusals to register crimes,' said Ustinov.
