ZIL truck maker to produce compact cars
ZIL, a Russian truck maker, is planning to launch the production of a ZIL-112827 compact car, general director of the company Valery Nosov reported at the annual shareholders' meeting. According to him, the plant is currently looking for investors to implement this project. The company is expected to start producing these cars by next year.
According to the ZIL experts' estimates, 10,000 cars of this kind will be produced in 2003 and 50,000 cars - in 2004. In 2005, the company is to reach a stable production level of 100,000 cars per year. The car will be equipped with a 53 horsepower engine.
