Russia's Ministry of Railroads Takes Part in Iran: Transit Possibilities International Conference

According to the press service of Russia's Ministry of Railroads, Vladimir Yakunin, the First Deputy Minister of Railroads, led the ministry's delegation at the Iran: Transit Possibilities international conference that opened on June 11 in Tehran. Discussed during the two-day-long event were the potentials of Iran as a part of the international transportation corridor and the problems arising in this connection. The agenda included issues pertaining to the signing by Russia, Iran, and India of the agreement on the creation of the North-South transportation corridor and the prospects of this project of global magnitude.

Besides Russia's delegation, the other participants of the conference included representatives from the transportation ministries of 30 countries, including India, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Romania, Bulgaria, and Sri-Lanka.
