PACE Commission for Legal Issues and Human Rights session opens in Saratov

A session of the PACE Commission for Legal Issues and Human Rights will open in Saratov /the Volga area/ on Thursday. According to human rights plenipotentiary in the Saratov region Alexander Lando, the human rights problem in Belarus and Chechnya, and minorities in Belgium and some other countries will feature prominently on the agenda.

Chairman of the Commission Eduard Lintner /Germany/ and members of the Commission arrived Wednesday in Saratov to participate in the session.

The agenda of the guests' visit includes the laying of the foundation stone of a Stella in Council of Europe's Square /the square was recently named so/. On the same day, the Commission will open its session.

Prior to the session, Saratov governor Dmitry Ayatskov will meet the chief delegates of the commission.

On June 14th, the participants in the session will visit Saratov's pre-detention centre No 1, convict colony No. 13 and attend a press conference. Afterwards, they will leave for Moscow.
