The Republic of Tatarstan signed a protocol on a two-year cooperation with the administration of one of the Iranian provinces, the press service of the republican government reported pointing out that the protocol may be prolonged after it expires. According to the document, the authorities of the Iranian province will render assistance to Tatneft in oil exploring in Iran. It is planned that Iran will give the oil company two oil fields to explore. Moreover, Tatneft in cooperation with some Iranian companies will examine a project on constructing a motor oil producing plant in Tabriz. The parties also agreed that Tatneftekhiminvest-Holding in cooperation with Iranian companies would examine investment projects in the sphere of oil chemistry and would participate in them, if the holding gets interested in them. Tatneft's specialists will start working in Iran in July 2002.
