Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, currently staying in St. Petersburg to participate in the fourth meeting of the prime ministers of the Council of Baltic Sea states, has held bilateral meetings with the Polish and Lithuanian prime ministers.
According to Kasyanov's spokeswoman Tatiana Razbash, his meeting with Chairman of the Polish council of ministers Leszek Miller spotlighted in particular the implementation of bilateral agreements achieved during the Russian president's visit to Poland and during the previous talks between the two prime ministers.
The sides unanimously stated that the task of the present-day relations between Russia and Poland was the implementation of the adopted decisions. This is in particular the goal of the committee for Russo-Polish co-operation strategy, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries. The meeting will pay particular attention to trade and economic and cultural collaboration, interaction in the gas area and co-operation on the Kaliningrad-related issues /i.e. the problem of the Kaliningrad region - Russia's enclave on the Baltic Sea/.
Kasyanov's meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas highlighted the improvement of the legal-contractual basis, development of co-operation in the transport and energy spheres. The parties also touched upon the co-operation on the Kaliningrad issues.
