Russian PM on Sunday violence in Moscow

Russian Premier Mikhail Kasyanov thinks the Sunday violence in the center of Moscow was prearranged. Answering RIA Novosti's question on Monday, Kasyanov said the city authorities and the federal authorities, as well as football fans and the rest of the country's citizens, had something to think about. "Should this happen again, Russia may lose its right to hold football events, the 2008 European Championship for instance," he said. He recalled that Russia had recently sent in an application, asking to host the championship.

Hopefully, the authorities will do everything possible to find out what caused the incident, to track down the guilty, and to prevent the same thing from happening in the future, noted Kasyanov, emphasizing that extra security measures must always be taken during mass events of this scale.

In his opinion, the fact that violence erupted before the end of the match proves that the action had been planned in advance.

"Naturally, it dampens our spirits, this sort of thing should not happen," said the premier.
