Russian premier's comments on railway reform

The railway transport reform, already being realised by the Russia government, will lead to a better safety, higher quality of services offered to passengers and lower exploitation expenses, said Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov at a presentation of a new model of electric train, held at Kievskaya railway station on Friday.

Kasyanov admitted that today electric trains amortisation exceeded 40%. He believes the rolling-stock needs a comprehensive modernisation.

The new model of electric train presented today at the Kievsky railway station is "a good example", the Prime Minister said. The expenses for this model production are 17% lower than the ones for the previous models.

The Prime Minister is convinced that this new Russian invention will soon replace all old trains.
