Late this week the Russian Finance Ministry will make another payment in clearing off the debt of Russia to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to the Finance Ministry's spokesman, in accordance with the original time-table, this payment must be made on June 9th, Sunday. Since this is a rest-day, the money will be most likely transferred on Friday.
This payment will amount to 19,468,867 SDR - about 25 million dollars. (SDR - Special Drawing Rights, an artificial currency unit of the International Monetary Fund.) The previous payment was made on May 20th in the amount of 52,820,000 US dollars.
On the whole, in 2002 Russia plans to pay 1.5 billion dollars in clearing off its debt to the International Monetary Fund. As of January 1st, this year, Russia's debt to the Fund is estimated at the sum of 7.5 billion dollars. In January-May, about 600 million dollars were transferred to the Fund.
