437 enterprises with Russian and Lithuanian capital in Kaliningrad Region

Lithuanian entrepreneurs are interested in the development of relations with the Kaliningrad Region (Russian enclave in the West), at the present moment 437 enterprises with Lithuanian and Russian capital and 16 branches of Lithuanian enterprises are registered. This was disclosed by President of the Lithuanian Association of Trade, Industry and Crafts Chambers Eimutis Zvybas.

He highly estimated the agreement with the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Head of the Lithuanian Association of Chambers and President of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yevgeny Primakov agreed to exchange economic and juridical information, to co-operate in organising exhibitions, fairs, meetings of entrepreneurs aimed to establish business contacts between enterprises, Zvybas stressed.

At the meeting in Svetlogorsk, both sides noted the importance of transit corridors towards sea ports in Kaliningrad and Klaipeda.

The press-centre of the Association of the Trade, Industry and Crafts informed that in recent years the volume of trade turnover between Russia and Lithuania had considerably increased. In the first quarter of this year, Russian products comprised 23% of the total Lithuanian import volume.
