Thousands of Israeli Lives saved by pure luck

A palestinian truck, loaded with explosives blew up in the Glilot gas reservation in central Israel, in what appears to be an attempt to cause a major disaster.

The truck exploded in the reserves, next to major gas and gasoline silos, which are highly flammable. Experts say today that it is pure luck that theses silos did not catch on fire. A huge disaster was avoided.

According to these experts: If the terrorists were successful, everyone within half a kilometer's radius would have died. 50% of the people within a kilometer would have died, and many more in the radius of 2-4 kilometers.

The reservation has been closed down in the meantime, while major security measures are being taken.

The Glilot reservation is very close to Tel Aviv, and is in a highly populated area. No one dares to post an assumption of how many would have died.

The truck was filled with explosives, and blown up by use of a cellular phone which allowed the terrorists to initiate the explosion from a distance.
