Perenco To Begin Drilling Programme Using Glomar High Island V Jackup System

A three well drilling program utilizing the Glomar High Island V jack-up has been set up to commence operations in June. Perenco will begin on the Andokolo prospect with the drilling of a wildcat well in the Oguendjo Block in the North Gabon Sub-basin. A two well appraisal program is scheduled to follow. Those wells will be drilled in the new Ompoyi Field discovery to delineate its northern extension and ascertain the dimension of the oil column.

When the discovery well Ompoyi-1 was tested in February, it had a flow rate of six thousand three hundred barrels per day of oil from a 361 foot interval in the Eocene Ozouri formation. It was drilled to a total depth of 3,556 feet in sixty nine feet of water.
