President Putin on unscrupulous use of natural resources

Vladimir Putin has spoken in favour of a legislative solution to the problem of unscrupulous users of natural resources. While answering the questions of participants in a Federation Council session on Tuesday, the Russian President said that so far the process "has been insufficiently effective." Putin made it clear that foreign companies stored unused resources for 5-8 years in advance, while Russian companies--"for 15-20-25, and some - for 30 years in advance." Moreover, the Russian head of state added, these companies "are ready to trade in these unused resources," thus "raising their capitalisation at the country's expense." Admitting that all decisions related to this problem "should be thought-out" and that there should be no fuss in taking them, Putin stressed that the problem of unscrupulous users of natural resources should be regulated and solved in the interests of the country.
