Festival of creative activity of handicaped children

The sixth Regional festival of the creative activity of handicaped children We Can Do Everything has ended in Yekaterinburg (the centre of the Sverdlovsk Region in the Urals). As the press service of the Ministry of Social Protection of the Population of the Sverdlovsk Region reported, the festival under the motto Let Us Join Hands, Friends was held as part of the presidential programme Children of Russia from February to May 2002. The organisers of the festival viewed it as their prime task to draw children-invalids into active participation in cultural life, to reveal talented children, and to help them take an active part in creative activity. During the festival events the specialists studied the problems of development of children's creative activity, and the organisers attracted sponsors' money to financially support gifted children, creative companies and centres of rehabilitation for handicaped children. The festival was held in the form of reviews-competitions, concerts, performances, and exhibitions of applied art. The Sverdlovsk Region intends to continue the tradition of such festivals.
