Azerbaijan Could Face Fuel Shortage Due To Maintenance Work

Daily supply of Russian gas amounting to fourteen million cubic meters per day to Azerbaijan has been suspended on 12th to 19th May. The suspension is connected with repairs and maintenance of the Russian main gas pipelines. SOCAR officials says that the interruption in the supply of Russian gas is in line with a plan. In this connection, the Azerbaijani state district power station has completely converted to fuel oil. The reserves of fuel oil are over forty thousand tonnes. Taking into account the warm spell, this amount of fuel oil is not enough to run power stations which will need about seventy thousand tonnes of fuel oil. The shortfall will be supplied by daily deliveries by the state oil company to the Azarenerji (Azeri energy) power stations, MPA news agency has reported.
