EurAsEc member-countries must agree their positions concerning joining WTO

The chairman of the EurAsEC (Eurasian Economic Community) Interstate Council Nursultan Nazarbaev has defined a list of issues that need to be discussed by the member-countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan and Tajikistan) in the near future. Agreed positions of the member-countries on joining the WTO, the protection of domestic markets in the conditions of non-applying restrictive measures in trade are among the priorities, Nazarbaev believes. "The trend to use protective measures and anti-dumping in trade between member-countries has been rather strong lately, which runs counter to the organisation's regulations," said Nazarbaev at an enlarged meeting of the Interstate Council in the Kremlin. The president of Kazakhstan also pointed to the problem of transport tariffs, which is extremely important for a more intensive cooperation in the framework of the organisation. He believes a single tariff on railway transportation should be established. Besides, it is necessary to finish the creation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the EurAsEC court, Nazarbaev stated.
