Russian customs officials detain Chinese with excessive radiation

The officials of the customs post at Grodekovo in Primorye (Russia's Far East) have detained a Chinese citizen, whose body radiation exceeds the normal one by 500 times, a spokesman for the Far East Customs department's press service told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. On May 7th, when a Chinese train was arriving at Grodekovo the "Yantar-1" radiation control system went off. Specialists from the Customs department discovered a passenger's throat was emitting radiation 500 times above the norm. The detained Chinese who had come to Primorye to earn money explained that he had been taking medicine for his thyroid gland, but had no documents on him to prove it. In compliance with the inter-departmental commission's decision, the unlucky Chinese was sent back home.
