Carnarvon Basin Test Well Plugged By Australian Worldwide

Australian Worldwide Exploration advises that Quandong-1 has been plugged and abandoned after reaching a total depth of 2,265 meters. Quandong-1, which tested a large tilted fault block on the western side of WA 202P, in the Carnarvon Basin, encountered very good quality sandstones in the objective North Rankin Formation but no significant hydrocarbons were present. Drilling operations were completed in a little over 5 days. The Bloodwood-1 well which was drilled following Quandong-1 has also been plugged and abandoned after reaching a total depth of 834 meters. Bloodwood-1 tested a Cretaceous M. australis sandstone objective analogous to and just northeast of the Wandoo oil field. Minor oil shows were encountered in good quality objective sandstones, which are interpreted to be water bearing. AWE holds a 10% interest in WA 202P and will receive a free financial carry through the dryhole cost of drilling Quandong-1 and Bloodwood-1. After the wells have been drilled, participants in WA 202P will be: AWE with 10%; Apache Northwest Pty, as operator, with 30%; Mobil (Legendre) Pty with 20%; and Wandoo Petroleum Pty with 40%.
