Speaker of the upper house of Russian parliament to meet in Minsk with Belarussian President

Chairman of the Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian parliament) Sergei Mironov will meet on Wednesday, within the framework of his visit to Belarus, with its president Alexander Lukashenko. On the same day Sergei Mironov will deliver a report in the upper house of the Belarussian parliament. In the second half of the day he will hold talks with chairmen of the council of the republic and the house of representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. In the evening of May 8th, Sergei Mironov will visit the memorial complex Khatyn (built on the place of the village of the same name which was burnt in 1943 with its inhabitants by the German fascists). He will lay a wreath there on behalf of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Sergei Mironov said on May 7th when he arrived in Minsk that his visit had been timed to celebrations devoted to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). This day is marked in Russia and Belarus on May 9th.
