IDF murder Palestinian woman and two small children

Israeli Defence Force spokespersons have confirmed that Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian woman and her two young children, aged 3 and 4, in the West Bank, after mistaking the sound their tank engine was making for a bomb.

After having denied the incident on Sunday, the IDF was forced to admit its involvement on Monday after an investigation in the area failed to produce any vestiges of the bomb and a test on the tank’s engine revealed the source of the problem.

The original version was that the IDF had opened fire after a bomb had been thrown at Israeli troops near the refugee camp at Jenin, an attack in which one Israeli soldier was reported to have been wounded.

The Palestinian ambulance driver who took the woman to hospital declared that she and her children had been gathering vine leaves in a field when they were shot by IDF troops. The Israeli Army has issued a statement regretting the incident, but stating that the soldiers were following standard procedure.

Standard procedure, for the IDF, it would seem, is exactly what they were following, to the letter. This incident raises the issue of how many other lies have been concocted by the state of Israel in the recent past, which has claimed the lives of 459 Israelis and 1,344 Palestinians since the beginning of the Al Aqsa Intifada in September 2000.
