Russian, Finnish Railway Officials Discuss Functioning of Border Stations

The Director of Russia's Oktyabrskaya Railroad, Gennady Komarov and the General Director of the Railroads of Finland, Henri Kuitunen met today to discuss the functioning of the railway stations located on the border. According to the PR Centre of the Oktyabrskaya Railroad, the large accumulation of cargo trains on both sides inhibited the growth of cargo flow. Russia's railroad people believe the problem would be alleviated if Finland could receive long trains, which can not be done for the time being. To solve the problem, Finland will have to do a lot of work to expand the existing stations. The two officials agreed that a joint Russian-Finnish commission would inspect border station and compile a list of things to be done. Also discussed were border-crossing formalities.
