RWE Not Interested In Buying Saur

RWE, the world's third largest water utility, is probably not interested in buying Saur, a French water company worth about 1 billion euros ($910 million), as Saur makes too much revenue in Africa, analysts have said. Bouygues wants to sell Saur to RWE after talks with the German company's archrival E.ON collapsed, the French newspaper La Tribune said, without citing a source. Bouygues “never comments on deals invented by analysts,” spokeswoman Blandine Delafon said. RWE spokesman Bill McAndrews had no immediate comment. “It's probably not of major interest for RWE because a large part of Saur's customer potential is in Africa,” said Sal. Oppenheim Jr & Cie analyst Matthias Heck. “Size-wise it could make sense.” The RWE Chief Executive Officer Dietmar Kuhnt has spent $17.4 billion in two years to buy Thames Water of the UK and the American Water Works Company, purchases that will give RWE 56 million water customers. Kuhnt said in March the company would focus on integrating existing purchases in coming months.
