Relations with Russia high on agenda of Aznar-Bush talks

Relations with Russia are high on the agenda of Camp David talks between U.S. President George W. Bush and visiting Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, who currently holds the rotating presidency in the European Union. The Spanish Premier has come to the United States together with his spouse on Bush's invitation. As Aznar arrived at Camp David, Bush pointed out to reporters the special importance of the opinion exchange he was going to have with the top Spanish official. Bush reminded his audience that Aznar was due in Moscow shortly after his own visit there, set for May 23. Aznar said the United States and Spain had developed a relationship of close friendship. In the leadup to the Spanish Premier's visit to the U.S., Bush had remarked that the level of their bilateral relations was indeed very high. He said Aznar could turn to him with a problem any time and that the two of them were always sure to find common ground.
