George Bush optimistic about agreement with Russia

US President George Bush has said his administration is optimistic about the prospect to sign a new Russian-American agreement to cut nuclear stockpiles at the forthcoming Moscow summit. At a Friday press conference at his country retreat in Camp David, where he arrived to meet with the Spanish Prime Minister, on a visit to the US, Bush reported that US Secretary of State Colin Powell who had finished his Washington talks with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov was optimistic however there remained work to be done to draft the document. "We spend a lot of time with the Russians to coordinate our agreement and codify" the two countries' intention to substantially cut our offensive nuclear stockpiles, Bush noted.
