Massacre in Algeria

31 people have been massacred by armed Islamic groups in Tiaret, northern Algeria.

The attack was carried out at dawn on Thursday 2nd May by armed Islamic guerrillas. 31 people were shot dead in the region of Tiaret, 340 kilometres south-west of the capital, Algiers. 20 people were killed and five were wounded in Ksar Chellala and a further 11 people died in Sidi Khaled, on the outskirts of the city of Tiaret.

This massacre is the worst registered this year involving the killing of civilians by Armed Islamic Groups (AIG) in Algeria.
